DESCRIPTION:
French, Deniere, Paris, Circa 1890, 8-day time/strike red marble and glass "mantel regulator" clock, with open escapement on the dial, and Ellicott style compensating pendulum.
CONDITION:
red marble section that makes up the top of the case is cracked and re-glued with a frontal chip at the repaired area. The marble base has some roughness on the edges. Beveled glass panels are perfect. Original porcelain dial has a fine hairline at about 6 o'clock; otherwise perfect. Hands are original. Movement is signed with the same name as on the dial. Pendulum probably had some type of decorative insert that is now missing. Ht 14.5"
